My mission is to help inspire excellence, responsibility, and the joy of learning while providing my students with the knowledge and skills to live an active and healthy lifestyle.
My inspiration to become a teacher came from my father who retired after over 30 years of teaching middle school. I have always admired effective teachers and coaches for their ability to reach all of their students. Throughout high school and college I always studied my teachers and professors learning the good techniques and ensuring I remembered to never use the bad. I have certainly evolved over the first four years of my teaching experience but my years as a student had a huge hand in molding me into the teacher I am today.
I am currently a teacher but I will always be a learner. It is necessary to continue to further my own education to ensure that I am always the best educator I can possibly be. Workshops, meetings, and conferences have been and will continue to be instrumental in my teaching and coaching professional development.
I believe that all students should have an equal opportunity to learn and it is the job of the teacher to help inspire the joy of learning. As a physical educator, I try to teach my students the skills to live a healthy active lifestyle not only in school but when they enter the real world. I always try to be a role model for my students by exercising daily and always eating healthy.
I believe it is imperative to always be positive, energetic, and understanding of my students needs. I know that if I show my students the respect they deserve, most of the time it will be reciprocal. Building strong trustworthy relationships with my students is very important to me. My hope is that during conversations with former students later in life, they will tell me how much of a positive influence I had on their lives.
